True colors
For my True Color test I got gold. Interesting to see what I had found. I ended up picking accountant. I was interesting to me because I already have a job as a bookkeeper so I thought why not look into it more. It was equivocating to me in what people actually did and how to get to it. Accounting is based around financial information being managed by researches and analyzing accounting data; preparing reports. It has a median salary of $65,080. Skills and qualifications for an accountant are pretty simple. It consists of being able to corporate finance, solicitous towards detail, be deadline-oriented, have good time management, have confidentiality, maintain customer’s confidence, being able to report research results, know the SFAS Rules and have general math skills. Honestly not that bad. Also, as an accountant you can prepare taxes for individuals, perform audits, prepare taxes and provide consulting for corporations, nonprofit organizations and governments. Something else I found out was that there are some associate degrees for accounting but a bachelor’s degree generally looks better to prospective employers. In addition, some employers may even prefer that their accountants have a master’s degree in accounting or business administration with a concentration in accounting. The good this is that some universities and colleges offer a five-year combined bachelor’s and master’s degree program, which is a smart choice for students hoping to take the Certified Public Accountant exam. Moreover, to the CPA certification, accountants may also want to get the Certified Management Accountant certification, which requires a bachelor’s degree, two years of work in management accounting and passing an exam.

My Counselor’s is Brenda Solorio, she is the advisor at California State University, Los Angeles, in the college of business and economics. She was very helpful to me because not only did she show me what classes I needed to take. She explained what accounting actually was. She made me think about it and see if I actually like it. Ended up taking an accounting class, found out that it is that not that bad. I went back to her couple of weeks ago and she was solaced to see me. Wondering what had happened and why I didn't see her as much. But she ended up helping me more with telling me what different courses I can take to get even more ahead here at El Camino. Over the three years I have been in college I have made a connection with her and it is awesome to have someone to look for when you need help.
